The Deutsche Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte - Bildarchiv Foto Marburg is known for its collection of around two million original photographic images of European art and architecture. As an internationally active research institution, it also examines the history, practice and theory of the transmission of visual cultural assets, exploring in particular the associated media transformation processes and conditions of storing knowledge in visual form, as well as the significance of the memory of visual culture in society. The results of this research are published in the series "Transformation des Visuellen" (Transformation of the Visual).
